Playing Dre$$ Up #1

Ever since I was tagged by The Pleasure Monger, I was rather excited about doing this post. Unfortunately I had no means of taking full-length photos of myself!

The only large mirror in our home is a hand-me-down that we got some time after we moved in. There is therefore no proper lighting where it is, and light is essential given that I was going to use my iPhone to snap a pic.

I am so happy however to announce that I found a photo spot in my room and learnt how to use the self-timer on our DSLR! Wheee! haha. Well, the short-cut method anyway. I was told I should have adjusted for distance etc, but ah well, that's for another day! I still could not get my whole self in, and decided to improvise. Anyway, because I took so long to figure out the camera and get everything all set up I decided to milk it for all it was worth - I now have 2 Playing Dre$$ Up posts. Same dress, different accessories :)

Hope you enjoy these 2 fun posts. Do pop over here to access the links to the other lovely ladies who did this!

The Dress:
Stretchy number from a shop at West Coast Plaza. Comes with a belt with a sparkly buckle that's not featured here. Cost around S$50.

Bib Necklace:
Hypnosis at Vivocity. On sale for less than S$20.

Tiered Ring:
Chomel. On sale for about S$30

Shoes:
Aldo
I've worn these pair for years (maybe 5?) and they've never failed me (except that they are 4 inches high, which has inhibited my rush to catch buses). So I reckon on a per wear basis, they're cheaper than many of my shoes that cost less!

Woven Bag:
Vintage, from Granny's Day Out. I adore this bag!

Catty:
Thanks! Yeah I love how versatile and statement-making it is! Esp since it is worn tied with a ribbon. There's plenty of similar designs around these days. I'm sure you'll be able to find something like that in London!

Thanks for doing this dress up meme! I LOVE how you jazz up your LBD with the bib necklace and tiered ring! Both accessories are very me. I don't own bib necklace...yet, but I would love to get one now. The best thing is they look really chic without breaking the bank!

Yann:
Hee thanks! I think it IS from that era! Wicker bags!

The Pleasure Monger:
It was fun! :) I was going to tell you that your look is very 'me' as well! You should go grab a bib necklace - very easy to wear. Just need to check for well-sewn beading!

Tina:
LOL at 'modelling' work! It is hard work alright - but more the walking to and fro to check the camera for settings and to see if the image turned out ok! Hope you get the ring you like!

Cote-p:
Thanks babe. Errr, you don't want to see the many many outtakes!

Ellie:
Thank you! I took the easy way out and chose a black dress =P

Thanks! Yes it IS a Wicker bag! Haha I was searching for the right word when writing the post. I wrote 'woven' instead. Ah well ;) Unfortunately it is a bag I can't use when out with Bubbles! Not practical handling =P

LadyJ:
Thanks! It is so boring compared to the fun stuff you girls throw together though! hee. Gotta to check out the rest of the links soon!

Fibrate:
Black is seriously so easier to wear. At one point in time a few years ago I wore black almost everyday =P

Leney:
I kinda cheated and started with a black dress! haha. Easier. This is my to-go-to dress when I can't think of what to wear!

Domesticgoddess:
Thank you! Among my circle I am known as someone who sniffs out bargains. My rationale is that I need to get bargains because I like variety (ie. quantity is required!) hee hee.

Maameemoomoo:
I'm sure you can! Just the type of necklace! I too have to choose carefully as I have a square jaw! I also unfortunately can't take dainty pieces although I do appreciate them!

I love the ring! I'm big on rings! And I love shopping at Chomel! Think I'm heading there soon :)

Maameemoomoo: can't help but commenting :) sure you can wear necklaces, just don't go for chokers or any short necklaces. Go for longer ones as they will have the effect of elongating your neck.

On the same note, don't wear things that have high neckline or cover your neck fully e.g. turtlenecks and instead, opt for cowl necks.
