Hi Doggy, I'm Bubbles!

I'm always trying to find new places to take Bubbles to let her have varied experiences.

Recently, on a friend's recommendation, I took her to a large pet shop in a shopping mall.

Bubbles' first reaction to seeing so many puppies at once was to shriek with excitement! She let go on my hand, and walked to the puppies as fast as her little legs could take her. She pointed animatedly at them and babbled happily.

What amused me most was when she went from cage to cage waving to each dog, and then patting her chest (her way of saying "I'm Bubbles!"). I realised my dear baby was introducing herself to all of them! Haha!

She was disappointed that she couldn't touch them though, as they were all behind glass panels.

Maybe someday I should seriously consider getting a dog for the family. If and when that day comes though, I will adopt and not buy.

That's nice! Research has shown that children who grow up with pets at home are less prone to allergies & are better equipped with social skills. Just be sure to adopt a breed / mongrel that is good with young children! :)

Hi Corsage,

Glad to know you'll consider to adopt rather than buy a pet! =)

Less prone to allergies? Really? I have to read up more about that. I've always thought they could cause allergies! Thanks for sharing!

She does! I took her next door after that to look at the rabbits/guinea pigs etc - she was NOT interested at all =P

I did not previously know or think about this but now that I am aware, I do think it is the right thing to do :)

Rylen loves her 2 dogs now, she pets them all the time (a little too hard) and I think it teaches her how to share, she shares her food and her toys and their toys, It's wonderful.

I really had hoped to adopt and not buy but I needed dogs that didn't shed too much due to my allergies and I waited and waited and spied on ASD site till finally I gave up and there was an unwanted mix breed for sale. I'm such a disappointment. My advice is to have a list of what dogs you might want (temper, shedding, size) and start looking now.

So lovely that Rylen grows up with dogs in the family! You must really love them to want to own 2 despite your allergies :)
