I have been a silent reader of this blog since I first found out I was pregnant (my baby girl is now almost 5 months old)
I am a full-time working mum (currently working half days but that will end in Oct). Just wondering how do you ensure that Bubbles is gainfully occupied on the days that you are at work. Do you send her for classes? (And if so, where?).
Thanks all! I do need to get better hair ties! These ones seem to drop off easily. And I also can't leave her alone with them as they get into her mouth sometimes =P
Anon: Thanks for dropping a note! I'm happy to know of new readers.
I work only 3 days a week and my mom is the main caregiver on those days. She does simple things like take her to the playground, a trip to the market (she loves the sights and sounds!), or even a walk out to the main road to see the MRT train, cars and buses. At home, she plays a variety of music for her, plays ball (and various toys), and reads to her. We also think it is important for Bubbles to have independent free play so she does explore the house on her own, pulling out/down stuff to look at. Recently Bubbles enjoys walking with her walker so she does that a lot as well.
If you are looking at more structured activities, you can consider getting the caregiver to take your daughter for weekly playgroups or indoor playgrounds. Bubbles attended Bibinogs for a term, which we both really liked. You can also consider places like Kindermusik or Gymboree. Once she is more mobile, you can take her to the various playgrounds across the island. Fidgets is one of my favourites as it is free for kids below one, and has a smallish area for the smallest kiddos.
What I've found is that there is more you can do as they get older and more mobile. All the best and let me know how is goes! :)
