Life Lessons from Sewing

As I sew, I encounter experiences that I mischieviously relate to a few lessons about life. See if you agree!

1. Begin with the end in mind. The goal. What you want to achieve. Don't think you can 'cut the cloth' in whatever way you want and expect a specific outcome. Sometimes, an inch or two makes all the difference to the success or failure of the final product.

2. Plan Plan Plan! Spend time planning before executing your task, so that you get it as right as you can. Learn from others' mistakes. Unpicking a wrong is painful (although sometimes necessary for learning).

3. Take care of your hurt first when you do injure yourself. Nurse the wound before embarking on something new, lest the blood flow and the pain affects the next task/relationship/plan.

4. Being organised helps efficiency, although not neccessarily creativity. (This is not an excuse! heh)

5. There is more than one right answer. Sometimes, you end up with something so unlike what you planned to do, that you want to give up. Creativity is how you come up with something new, from the failed product.

A little purse with a colourful print on one side, and polka dots on the other. I was so pleased when I completed it.

Alas! I discovered that I positioned the zipper on the wrong side of the cloth for one side of the purse! As you can see, the zipper material is nicely tucked into the lining on the top where my middle finger is, but sticking out where my index finger is pointing at the bottom of the photo.

Boo :(

nuttyjas: I'm really glad my post helped you! All the very best and I hope things work out great for you.

melly: Yes indeed! Although it is always so tempting (for me esp) to rush head on into exciting things.

jacinta: Aww thank you! Until you look inside =P Am still deciding whether I should unpick the whole thing, or just keep it for myself.
