depends what kind of books you like... for example, if you're in to travel writing, then check out Colin Thubron; contemporary lit, i would recommend Neal Stephenson's Baroque Cycle (hard on the wrists though!); or if you just want something light, or chick lit as some might call it, then any book by Mike Gayle.
